Service Through AMRITA SeRVe

In an attempt to implement the ‘AMRITA SeRVe’ initiative, the Mumbai Ashram organized a free medical camp and a ‘clean environment’ drive (Amala Bharatam Campaign) at a tribal village named Kondewadi(Ransai) in Raigad district, Maharashtra on Sunday,26th January 2014. The group of 70-odd volunteers who participated in the seva included members of the AYUDH and devotees from across Mumbai.

As part of the empowerment program, sewing machines had been provided by the Ashram to the village women. Many of them have been enthusiastically undergoing training in tailoring over the past one month. Many more showed keenness to learn the art of stitching as a means of livelihood.

The afternoon program commenced with a short bhajan session, followed by distribution of sarees to all the womenfolk, and rice to 150 households of the village. The program concluded with an interactive session where the volunteer devotees spoke to the villagers about Amma and her extensive charitable humanitarian activities.
