The transit of the planet Saturn from Libra to Scorpio on Sunday, 2nd November augmented adverse effects for certain Rashis as per the astrological charts. In order to minimize these effects, a Shani Dosha Nivarana Puja and a Shani Homam were conducted on this day at the Nerul Ashram. The program commenced at 4 pm as crowds thronged the main hall to participate in the puja.
There was satsang followed by the chanting of the Ashtothram. A few bhajans were sung that helped to maintain the contemplative atmosphere. The Shani Ashtothram and the Shiva Ashtothram were also chanted. A meditation session was conducted after which the Maha Arati was performed.
On conclusion of the puja,the participants carrying the sacred kalash on their heads, guided by the volunteers, proceeded to the Brahmasthanam temple. Symbolizing the surrender of all karma and its effects to the Divine Power, the contents of the kalash were offered as oblations (abhishekam) to Lord Shiva, amidst chants of ‘Aum Shanaischaraya Namaha!’ Devotees dispersed after partaking of the Mahaprasad.
