{"id":309,"date":"2012-10-31T07:47:35","date_gmt":"2012-10-31T02:17:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.amma.org.in\/kolkata\/?p=309"},"modified":"2012-10-31T07:47:35","modified_gmt":"2012-10-31T02:17:35","slug":"durgapuja-celebrations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amma.org.in\/kolkata\/309","title":{"rendered":"Durgapuja celebrations"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>24<sup>th<\/sup> October 2012<\/p>\n<p>MAM at Kolkata hosted Durgapuja, the biggest festival of Bengalis, as Durgotsav. \u00a0A three feet idol of goddess Durga was enshrined in a beautifully decorated shrine and daily worship was done in the traditional way.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amma.org.in\/kolkata\/files\/2012\/10\/durga.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-312 aligncenter\" title=\"durga\" src=\"http:\/\/www.amma.org.in\/kolkata\/files\/2012\/10\/durga-400x266.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"266\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.amma.org.in\/kolkata\/files\/2012\/10\/durga-400x266.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.amma.org.in\/kolkata\/files\/2012\/10\/durga-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.amma.org.in\/kolkata\/files\/2012\/10\/durga.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The response from the public was beyond imagination \u2013 approximately two thousand people visited during the four days to worship their beloved deity. The praise was unanimous \u2013 \u2018goddess Durga\u2019s face was extra-ordinarily beautiful!\u2019 Traditional \u2018dhak\u2019 (a percussion drumming) music had added a genuine local flavour. The recitation of \u00a0Devi Mahatmyam on all days was a special attraction. In addition to chanting of Lalita sahasra nama and Mahishasura mardini stotra the devotees sang bhajans on every day.<\/p>\n<p>Various pujas were conducted during the celebrations, the last being Saraswati puja on Vijaya Dashami day.
