Alignment in Movement with Rhythmic breathing to Invoke Total Awareness through YOGA

As the acronym explains, a unique holistic Yoga program, exclusively for women, was organized on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the Math premises. Comprising two sessions, under the guidance of  Brni. Shobhana and three others, the program not only focused on the physical aspects of asana practice, but also attempted to adapt ancient Yoga principles to the needs of modern life. Another unique feature was the synchronization of sacred mantras with the process of breathing. The session was inaugurated by Dr. I.C.Dave, retired senior scientist from BARC at 9.00 a.m.by the traditional lighting of the lamp. In his short address to the participants thereafter, Dr. Dave stressed upon the importance of Yoga techniques such as the IAM technique in helping us revert back to our divine origins. He said that regular practice of Yoga helps in maintaining equanimity of both  mind and body, since the body is the medium through which we function in the world.

Both the sessions were well-attended. The participants included women of all ages, who diligently followed the instructions given to them. They dispersed at 4.00p.m. resolving to make this Yoga practice part of their daily routine, so that they can lead their lives with more awareness, stability, equanimity of body and mind and the  strength to meet new challenges in life.
