The Kartika Deepam is a typical festival of lights celebrated in South India.
Coinciding with Amma’s birthstar, Kartika, the festival was brought in with reverence and devotion at M.A.Math, Mumbai on Wednesday, 25th November. A Mahamrityunjaya Homam along with the Vilakku Puja was performed, which was well-attended by scores of devotees from all parts of the city. Glowing lamps lit all around the Ashram and the Brahmasthanam added beauty to the surroundings.
The Homam commenced at 5.30 pm, with the chanting of the Guru Stotram, Ashtottharam and Shiva Ashtottharam. A few bhajans in praise of Lord Shiva complemented the serenity of the atmosphere. The Homam concluded with the Mahishasura Mardini Stotram and the Maha Arati.
