• Tryst with Lord Shani

Lord Shani, one of the Navagraha deities, is a highly revered as well as feared god amongst devout Hindus. The son of Lord Surya and his second wife, Chhaya, Shani is the personification of the planet Saturn. According to mythology, when Shani opened his eyes for the first time as a baby, the Sun went into eclipse. This clearly denotes the impact of the deity on the astrological charts. The ‘slow-moving’ Shani ‘s transition on November 14, 2011 from  Kanya(Virgo) Rashi to Tula(Libra) Rashi cast an influence on the other Rashis as well. In order to counter the maleffects of this celestial transition and seek the favour of Lord Shani, a Shani Dosha Nivarana Puja and Homam  was conducted at the Mumbai Ashram premises on November 27, 2011, which had devotees flocking from all parts of the city.  As the Homam was in progress, devotees fervently chanted ‘Aum Shanaishcharaya Namaha’ and sought the benevolence of Lord Shani. The Puja culminated in the circumambulation of the Brahmasthanam temple by teary-eyed devotees.
