The son of Lord Surya and his second wife, Chhaya, Shani is the personification of the planet Saturn. According to mythology, when Shani opened his eyes for the first time as a baby, the Sun went into eclipse. This clearly denotes the impact of the deity on the astrological charts. The \u2018slow-moving\u2019 Shani \u2018s transition on November 14, 2011 from\u00a0 Kanya(Virgo) Rashi to Tula(Libra) Rashi cast an influence on the other Rashis as well. In order to counter the maleffects of this celestial transition and seek the favour of Lord Shani, a Shani Dosha Nivarana Puja and Homam \u00a0was conducted at the Mumbai Ashram premises on November 27, 2011, which had devotees flocking from all parts of the city.\u00a0 As the Homam was in progress, devotees fervently chanted \u2018Aum Shanaishcharaya Namaha\u2019 and sought the benevolence of Lord Shani.
