Diwali commemorates the return of Lord Rama,\u00a0along withSita and Lakshmana\u00a0from his 14-year-long exile after vanquishing the demon-king Ravana.\u00a0In joyous celebration of the return of their king, the people of Ayodhya\u00a0illuminated the kingdom with earthen\u00a0diyas\u00a0and by bursting firecrackers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-732\" src=\"http:\/\/www.amma.org.in\/mumbai\/files\/2012\/11\/Diwali-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Diwali is known as the \u2018festival of lights\u2019, leading us from darkness unto light \u2014 the light that empowers us to commit ourselves to good deeds, that which brings us closer to divinity. During Diwali, lights illuminate every corner of India and the scent of incense sticks hangs in the air, mingled with the sounds of fire-crackers, joy, togetherness and hope.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-733\" src=\"http:\/\/www.amma.org.in\/mumbai\/files\/2012\/11\/Diwali-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Ashram premises were engulfed in bright light emitted by rows of tiny diyas.The blend of the diyas and flowers lent a serene ambience all around. A Lalita Sahasranama Archana was conducted that was well-attended.
