It includes a ten-day worship of Lord Ganesha\u2019s idols, at the end of which the immersion ceremony (Visarjan)\u00a0 is performed. This year the first day, Ganesh Chaturthi fell on Friday, 29<sup>th<\/sup> August.\u00a0 The festivities at the Nerul Ashram commenced with the Ashta Dravya Mahaganapati Homam at 6.30 a.m.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-874\" src=\"http:\/\/www.amma.org.in\/mumbai\/files\/2014\/09\/IMG_7329.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7329\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At 9.30 a.m.,the Ganapati Pratishta was conducted and \u00a0the beautifully adorned Ganapati idols were installed in a specially created shrine. A\u00a0splendid\u00a0spread of sweets was offered to the Lord. Devotees then participated in the chanting of the Ganesha Ashtothram and the Lalita Sahasranamam.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-876\" src=\"http:\/\/www.amma.org.in\/mumbai\/files\/2014\/09\/IMG_7371.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7371\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Arati was performed in the mornings and evenings on all five days. On Tuesday, 2<sup>nd<\/sup> September, the bedecked idols of the Lord were carried for immersion to a nearby lake. After one last Arati, devotees looked on sadly as their deity was consigned to the waters.
