The Chinmaya Jyoti Yatra, organized by the Chinmaya Mission, as part of the Birth Centenary Celebrations of its Founder, Swami Chinmayananda, was accorded a warm welcome at Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Mumbai on Monday, 21st December 2015. The day coincided with the Bhagvad Gita Jayanti. At 4 p.m., the entourage was warmly received at the Math by Br.Avyayamrita Chaitanya and Amma’s followers from all parts of the city.

The Chinmaya Jyoti, the auspicious lamp and the sacred Paduka (sandals) of Swami Chinmayananda were brought into the prayer hall and placed on the stage. Swami Medhajananda and Br.Ved Chaitanya of the Chinmaya Mission, and Br. Avyayamrita Chaitanya, addressed the gathering.

The talk session was followed by the chanting of the Ashtotthram. Honoring the day as Gita Dinam, Chapter 15 of the Bhagvad Gita was also chanted. The Maha Arati was performed after which everyone present was led into the Chinmaya Sandesh Vahini, a specially-designed bus, inside which pictures depicting the life and times of Swami Chinmayananda were artistically displayed.

The program came to a close and the Yatra proceeded to the next destination spot.
