The first day of the Malayalam New Year, Vishu, was celebrated on April 14, 2012 , at the Mumbai Ashram. In adherence to tradition, a rich spread of the ‘Kani’, consisting of a variety of fruits, vegetables, the ‘Nava daanyam’ (nine varieties of grains) and the ‘konna’ flowers (golden showers), which are an integral part of the Vishu celebrations, enhanced the festive spirit. A beautiful statue of Lord Krishna adorned the stage.
A Lalita Sahasranama Laksharchana was conducted at 10 a.m. that was well-attended by devotees from all parts of the city. The program concluded with the chanting of the Mahishasura Mardini Stotram and the Arati after which the Mahaprasad was served to all the devotees present.
